For the spring 2013 semester, the community service committee of the A.O.E. Beta Theta chapter consisted of members: Briana Brown (Head), Angela Bajor, Karolina Kowalska, Fatimah Ashekun, and Shushanna Cherian
Our events consisted of Volunteering for Lighthouse Mission. Lighthouse mission: Mobile food outreach is "a one- hour, once a week, rain or shine!” Their mobile food pantry brings more than non-perishable items to Long Islanders in need. We assisted them by bringing hope, encouragement and vital information to help people overcome poverty and live productive purpose filled lives. We volunteered with this organization twice and intend on making it a staple community service event in future semesters.
The Beta Theta chapter also participated in Relay-For-Life. We fundraised for this event with bake sales and bracelet sales to contribute money to our relay for life team. As a team we raised $521, which contributed to Stony Brook’s $52,109.71 donation.
